about

This was originally a song I came up with to go with a poem that Heather Kelly had written called “The World Goes By”. In this version I added my own verses and melody but kept the chorus. I imagined that this is what I’d write if I was on the space station.

lyrics

Get yourself up I heard a big bang
Get your bowl and plate, you sweet sweet thing
They’re all going down to the swirling mess to obsolesce
Heartbeats backbeats dirt in my dreams, the earth keeps spinning round all those screams
So, hang on tight to little white lies, I’m staying here, let the world go by

The world goes by, the world goes by, yeah, they’re going in a circle
The world goes by, the world goes by, yeah, I’m waving and I’m smiling
The world goes by, it goes by

Hey little world, you feel alright to me, hey big world, you don’t scare me
I found a way, a way to lose myself
It aint easy to follow your heart, sure aint easy to end at the start
I won’t know because I won’t try, stay right here let the world, go by

The world goes by, goes by, the world goes by, I’m’ waiting for a ride and the world goes by
Going in a circle, the world goes by, Yeah, they’re going in a circle, the world goes by
Going in a circle, the world goes by, waiting for a ride and the world goes by
You’re right back where you started, the world goes by, goes by
Let me off here, the world goes by, it goes by

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
