about

The Recycled Souls CD has a rock edge, and an emphasis on songwriting. Highlights include “When Will I See You Again,” “Half Dead,” “What You Doin’ Here,” “Ain’t Done With You,” “Here Again,” “Thousand Times,” and “Feels So Good Hurts So Bad.” It’s a first-rate set of songs, with a great band in support.
Graham Clarke / Blues Bytes / MS, USA

Recycled Souls maintains a high standard of musicianship in a singer/songwriter mode with the songs showing blues influences. The backing musicians don’t overplay and get it right for the style of each tune. Erick has a good almost “smoky” voice and is a very tasteful guitarist (think latter-day Eric Clapton for instance). A couple of the reviews in the promo blurb call Erick a hidden gem of the US Midwest and I can only concur.
Richard Greaves / Blues In Britain Magazine

ERICK HOVEY has a good band and a nice lead guitar. Recycled Souls is a powerful album of original songs for those who like good old-fashioned rock without the posing. ‘Ain’t Done With You’ should be a world-wide smash.
R2 Magazine / UK

Erick Hovey is a complete and exciting musician who at any time, knows what works and what to do….I warmly recommend that you do not miss the musical piece of work called Recycled Souls.
Miaden Loncar, soundgaurdian, Croatia, 8-09

Erick Hovey’s roots oriented Recycled Souls is interesting because the CD is varied and Hovey’s guitar work possesses a pleasant spiciness.
Pieter Wijnstekers / HEAVEN pop magazine for adults / The Netherlands

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
