One day Jeff Foreman came by with some ideas he had been beating out on the skins. We recorded five of these back-to-back.
A poem of Sarah’s was recorded by phone and then laid into one of Jeff’s beats. It worked, so later she came to the barn and laid it in there good. Her son Zach came along and cut some keys tracks.
It was beat night in the barn.

The kind of burrowed pain only an introvert could leave undeclared, unspoken, and undevoted to the crowd
Not as you are it’s slave, it’s grand acting, chained, breathless, entertaining slave

I am branded and burned and singed
To elevate and aggravate my worst fears
On the numbed faces of dispersed strangers
Who will never know the feeling of my fingers on their brow
Under a low-lit ceiling of Sundays, and Mondays, and Tuesdays, and all days of our eleven years
