about

Sarah showed me this poem of hers one night while sitting by the campfire.
The line that stood out to me the next day was “pushing the flesh carriage”
I knew just the instrumental to use with the reading. She came, she read, she killed it.
It makes me think of an Ann Rice novel. You will have to ask her what it’s about.

lyrics

The clock of day and eve, as idle as a narrow vein
Shade weathers his hands, as mouths move around us, pushing the flesh carriage
Him and I make our home, in the quarter tomb
From fire and will, and eon of seasons
We lay with bare breath, etched now, in the noises of silt and wind
Dead men have dominion, in their cold, stiff fingers
Dead men have no opinion when lifeless, strangers linger
We forever make our home, here in the quarter tomb
We make our home, here in the quarter tomb
We forever, make our home, here in the quarter tomb
The clock of day and eve, as idle as a narrow vein
Shade weathers his hands, as mouths move, around us
Pushing the flesh carriage, him and I, make our home, in the quarter tomb
From fire and will, and eon of seasons, him and I make our home, etched now, in the quarter tomb
Dead men have dominion, in their cold stiff fingers
Dead men, dead men have no opinion, when lifeless strangers, linger
We forever make our home, we forever make our home, here in the quarter tomb
Shade weathers his hand, the clock of day and eve, mouths move around us, as idle as a narrow vein
Pushing the flesh carriage
Him and I make our home, in the quarter tomb
From fire and will, we lay with bare breath, etched now in the noises of silt and wind
We made our home, in the quarter tomb
Dead men have dominion, dead men have no opinion, in their cold stiff fingers
Dead men have no opinion when lifeless strangers linger
We forever, we make our home, here in the quarter tomb

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
