about

After writing and recording this mostly instrumental Latin groove, I was thinking “What now?”.
The only vocal was the word “Iowa” on the chorus sections. I kind of wanted to add a farm market report reading. One night at a party/session in the barn I happened to mention this to my friend Don Sorensen. He said that he used to read the market reports for a local radio station and so we promptly recorded one. While one wouldn’t normally associate this style of music with a song about Iowa, I like the unexpected pairing.

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
