about

I wrote this after binge watching The Twilight Zone. A common theme on those episodes was unsuspecting guy at circus gets lured into tent by succubus. My version is a Dom and a dungeon.

lyrics

I met a girl last night, she led me astray
But I didn’t know what I know now in the cold light of day
She took me to her leather lair, said I had a role to play
Now both her smiles grin at me in the cold light of day

In the cold cold light of day, seems last night is starting to fade
The lights came up and the moon bowed down and I guess I’m still around

Well she put me in a state, and I began to sway
The scare ball found me without a stitch in the cold light of day
Couldn’t get the cuffs off of my wrists, the ball gag tasted like grits
But I stood proud under my cloud in the cold cold light of day

In the cold cold light of day, seems last night is starting to fade
The lights came up and the moon bowed down and it looks like I’m still around

So don’t go on a date, with any old reprobate
Because a beautiful Dom with her fish nets on will, humiliate
I’m going back for more and I’m here to say
It’s the lucky stiffs who live to see the cold light of day

In the cold cold light of day, seems last night is starting to fade
I came up and the Dom bowed down and it looks like I’m still around, I guess I’m still around

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
