about

This poem of Hannah Mosqueda’s came from her blog “Bleeding On The Carpet”. I had the song ready to begin recording when I got a call from my friend Mick Halverson about his pawnshop guitar find. It was a Silvertone model 1457 that came with a case housing an amp and speaker. As a collector of these amp-in-cases I headed right over to check out the axe. I brought my laptop and interface and was recording direct within minutes. Back home I applied an envelope filter added vocals and guitar fills and the song was done.

lyrics

My body’s a convenience store
Take what you want, walk out the door
Pump your fuel, drive away, don’t stay

Don’t loiter, don’t linger, I’ll give you the finger
Show you the door, when you say you want more
Thank you for the lay, thank you for the lay have a nice day

Screaming, screaming, eternal torment
Burning, scorching, torture’s not silent
Fire, brimstone, feel the hungry lick
Gently cradle a mind turned sick, a mind turned sick

Don’t loiter, don’t linger, I’ll give you the finger
Show you the door, when you say you want more
Thank you for the lay, thank you for the lay, have a nice day

My life’s a convenience store, buy what I sell, always want more
Choose your vice, go away you’ll pay, you’ll pay

Don’t loiter, don’t linger, I’ll give you the finger
Show you the door, when you say you want more
Thank you for the lay, thank you for the lay, have a nice day

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
