about

This idea came from a jam session on a hot summer afternoon on the Barn’s first floor. In attendance was Dan Lodden, Herb Dreasler, Joe Hadar, and Bill Hoft. When we locked onto an interesting groove I pushed the record button on a Tascam DR-40 field recorder. Listening back the next day I was compelled to lay down guitar tracks for two songs, one fast one slow, based on my interpretation of the groove moments we had hit. This was the fast one. Dan Lodden put down some bass ideas and I ended up going with a copy and paste melodic bass theme. Once that was in place, I proceeded to flesh out the song by recording guitar fills. It was during this process that my phone rang. It was my wife Betsy calling to say dinners ready. The phone call was edited out but resulted in the title of this song.

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
