about

The title for this song came from a post-it note found on the barn floor after a party/session. It was a sketch by Shelly Bottorff of a hat wearing clown with the word “BOOSH” on the hat band. Lyrics came from one of Joe Hader’s poems, some writings from party goer Louie, and a verse and chords from an old song of mine called ” Shack Down By The River”. That crashing springy sound is a Fender super reverb amp being kicked. “Boosh” is about whatever you want it to be about.

lyrics

A starry night, loose connection, plug me in a lost dimension
Don’t look back its only love
I’ll bring whiskey you bring gin, we’ll forget where we’ve been
And loose ourselves in fickle ways of love
Yellow vans and white beach sands, frame that shot with whispering hands
White foam verbs and homemade beer, come on now and get your loving here
Boosh, boosh
Morning comes I’ve forgotten, something here sure smells rotten
Take away another day with love
Fall apart come back later, no one wins some feel better
Put you down a rabbit hole like so
Boosh, boosh
Stay alive cold and lonely, don’t look back it’s only, love
I’ve got dreams but no desires, I got hope but can’t aspire
Blissful peace of instant grace, Yeah but I aint got love, I aint got love
Boosh
We’ll toast the weather, we’ll toast the tea, get to feeling the way we want to be
Somebody tell everybody, take a ride now it’s only love
It’s a nice day where we going, into dreams overflowing
Boosh, boosh

about

Erick Hovey and Friends Fort Dodge, Iowa

Erick Hovey's music is peppered with seasonings of blues, roots rock, jazz, funk, old power trio rock, reggae, and newer folk fusion styles. His lyrical content has not only good humored nods towards classic blues and rock clichés’, but spans the afterlife, and existentialism as well. Sometimes it’s spooky, sometimes it’s raw, spiritual, and sensual. Think Mark Knopfler, JJ Cale, and Peter Green. ... more
